Mayes-Bessom Wedding, December 29

I ended the year on a high note with my last wedding for 2007! Bethany and Matthew are both recent med school graduates about to begin their residencies. I had the pleasure of photographing their engagement and Bethany’s bridal session as well. I always enjoy capturing images of two people in love and it was easy to see how perfect they were for each other. Their ceremony was held at the Fountain City United Methodist Church and reception followed at Crowne Plaza with about 500 guests in attendance. Leah, Corey and I had a wonderful time. Bridal Cover Shoot

City View Magazine asked me if I would photograph the cover and feature story for their January Bridal issue and certainly I was honored for the opportunity! In addition, they asked if I would contribute by writing a short article on my perspective of wedding photography and things a bride should consider when choosing their photographer. I had a blast at the session which took place back-stage at the Bijou theater and Leah captured some great "behind the scenes" images. Be sure to pick up a copy of the January issue for the full story. To view a few more, click on the image below...

Jean Ogle turns 75!

I was honored to have been asked by Marion Paul to photograph the surprise 75th birthday party for Jean Ogle of Gatlinburg. Marion did an unbelievable job of pulling together every detail for Jean’s birthday which was attended by over 150 of her best friends. Leah and I had a wonderful time documenting this memorable event...click below to see a few images from the party.

Chef Antun Cover Shoot

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Chef Antun for the December cover shoot for City View magazine featuring Knoxville’s “Top Chefs”. Dr. Antun recently opened the Culinary Institute at the University of Tennessee. Check out the December issue of City View to read more about this fascinating gentleman.

Richard Jolley, Sculptor of glass

I had a fascinating time photographing Richard and his team in his studio in west Knoxville. He is an incredible artist of international acclaim and documenting his creativity was like watching a conductor compose a symphony piece. His work is truly amazing and unlike anything else I have seen. City View magazine ran a feature story on Richard in their December issue. Click below to see a few more images from the shoot.

Arensbak-Cole Wedding, October 27

The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC was a fabulous venue for Lea and Josh’s wedding. The weather was perfect for their ceremony which took place on the new patio which faces the mountains. After the ceremony the guests were served cocktails on the terrace while being entertained by a wonderful violinist and harpist. The reception was unbelievable with ice sculptures and a buffet suited for royalty. Leah, Christy and I had a wonderful time and captured some beautiful moments with Lea and Josh. Wolfe-Plauche Wedding, October 20

Well I certainly didn’t have to travel very far for Ashley and Josh’s wedding, which was held at the L&N Station in downtown Knoxville, since my studio is on the second floor. I was most impressed with how they transformed the courtyard into a candlelit sanctuary. We had a blast the entire day! I enjoyed capturing Ashley’s energetic personality and Josh’s easy going demeanor in the camera…they seemed to be a perfect match for each other. Sexton-Wingenter Wedding, October 20

Ellen and Steve chose a very unique and beautiful location for their ceremony at the Scatteridge Lodge in Gatlinburg. Pat Maher, who owns the lodge did an impeccable job of handling all of the details. Christy and Corey had a wonderful time and captured some truly stunning images with the Smoky Mountains in the background. Click on the image below to see more…

Coffindaffer-McCook Wedding, October 13

This was my first opportunity to photograph a Greek Orthodox wedding and I must say that it was quite spectacular. All of the events in the ceremony were very interesting and steeped in Greek tradition. Donna Jacobs did a superb job of coordinating the wedding and reception…not one detail was missed! Jill and Nick were the picture perfect bride and groom. We started with their engagement session in Abingdon, Virginia where Nick first proposed to Jill just off the campus of Emory college. After the wedding, the guests were treated to a wonderful dinner catered by Southern Graces at the Knoxville Museum of Art. To view a few images from their wedding, click on the photo below…

Ball-Blazer Wedding, October 5

Davina and Kevin were such a pleasure to work with…from our very first meeting, through their engagement session, rehearsal and wedding. Their ceremony and reception took place at the historic Bleak House. I love this location because of the stately tiered gardens and beautiful arches on the west side of the property. Davina told me that the photography was the most important aspect of her wedding and I think we captured every moment and subtle detail. Candace Parker cover shoot

I was asked by City View to photograph Candace Parker for their November cover. I really enjoyed meeting Candace…she was a real pleasure to work with. Congratulations on your engagement Candace and I am sorry I couldn’t photograph your wedding in May but I will be in Jamaica for the Elliot–Hildreth wedding.

Simms-Hanks Wedding, September 29

Christy and Sarah had a wonderful time photographing Laura and Zach’s wedding at Butterfly Gap just outside of Maryville. Fortunately we had beautiful weather on Saturday since both Christy and I had outdoor weddings. Butterfly Gap makes for a picturesque location with the lake and foothills as the backdrop. Laura was one of the most beautiful brides Christy has photographed; she could have easily passed for an Abercrombie model. Click below to see a view a few images…

Beaty-Moore Wedding, September 29

Melaine and Churchill were so much fun. We started the day at the Hilton where Melaine was getting ready and then headed over to the East Tennessee Historical Museum to photograph Churchill with the groomsmen. Melaine made a fairy tale entrance at the ceremony in her personal horse drawn carriage which took place on the main lawn of Krutch Park in downtown Knoxville. The reception was held at the museum. Phillips-English Wedding, September 22

What a perfect day for a wedding. Amelia, Corey and I had a blast in Nashville photographing Joy and Steve’s wedding at the Cheekwood Mansion. This mansion was originally built for the Maxwell family, founders of Maxwell House coffee. Joy and Steve flew in from Dubai where Steve works just a few days before the wedding. I also photographed Joy’s bridal portrait there a few weeks earlier. The ceremony took place on the rear lawn in front f a beautiful overlook. The botanical gardens are magnificent and I would highly recommend a stop there when you are in Nashville. Just after a perfect sunset, the guests walked a short distance to the loggia for cocktails before the reception and some pretty serious dancing. Joy and Steve left early the next morning to head back to Dubai where Steve had some business before taking off on their honeymoon. Click the image below to view a few images…

Christy and Sarah had a wonderful time at The Oaks Castle in Johnson City photographing Emily and Steve’s wedding…what an awesome location! Emily and Steve were such a pleasure to work with and we captured some beautiful moments. The labyrinth of hedges made for some very cool shots. To see a few more, click on the link below…
