Grand Canyon

Since I had planned to attend the annual wedding and portrait photographer's international convention in Las Vegas, I decided to arrive a little early and spend a few days at the Grand Canyon with my family and then drive down to Sedona for a balloon ride through the red rock cliffs. Unfortunately we had several inches of snow as we were driving to Sedona and were stalled for 2-1/2 hours on the intersate due to a 129 car pile-up. As a result of the weather, the interstate was closed and the balloon ride was also canceled so we headed back to the Grand Canyon and were fortunate to be able to stay at the historic "El Tovar" lodge 20 feet from the edge of the rim. The El Tovar typically books up about a year in advance but we were in luck due to a last minute cancellation. I'm actually glad we had to head back because the photographs I was able to capture of the canyon after the snowfall were breathtaking. Notice the one photograph of a condor flying in to land on the left and my son Grant on the right. It really gives you a good sense of scale as to the size of these beautiful birds. Huang-Marshburn Wedding

Despite a little snow and cold temps, Leah and I had a wonderful time last Saturday documenting the wedding of Michelle Huang and Brian Marshburn. It was a very interesting wedding from a cultural standpoint as it combined a mixture of Chinese and American traditions. That is one of the things that I love about weddings...the diversity and uniqueness that you find in each one. No two weddings are the same! Michelle, a classical pianist and Brian, head of I.T. for his company were perfect for each other it certainly showed. To view a few more images from their wedding, click on the link below...

Ashley Plauche Bridal Session

I had a wonderful time photographing Ashley Plauche's bridal portrait last week. Ashley has such a fun personality and could easily pass for a model. We found some very cool spots to photograph in downtown Knoxville. I also brought my new prot'eg'e along...my 11 year old daughter, Angela, as my assistant and second shooter. She actually took the image in frame 9 of the slide show. To see a few images just click on one of the photos below...

Kmiec-Crawford Engagement, January 27

I remember first hearing from Meredith back in April of last year before she was actually engaged. She emailed me just to let me know how much she liked my style of photography and that when the day came she would be calling me. Seven months later, I was pleased to hear that Meredith and Michael were officially engaged and she was anxious to lock in her date while it was still available. It was such a pleasure to meet Meredith and Michael in person and to photograph their engagement session. We had a great time photographing around Market Square in downtown Knoxville. Loner-Allred Wedding, January 19

We had a wonderful time in Chattanooga photographing Jennifer and Matthew's wedding . Their ceremony was held at the historic Patton Chapel on the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga campus. It was a bit colder than we anticipated but not so cold that we couldn't take some great photographs outside. Their reception followed at the Fairyland Club on the top of Lookout Mountain. I first met Jennifer about a year ago when she was the Maid of Honor in another wedding I photographed at Berry College. To view a few images from their wedding click on the photo below...

Greenbaum-Rosenbaum Wedding, January 19

While I was in Chattanooga photographing the Loner-Allred wedding, Christy and Corey had a wonderful time photographing the wedding of Susan Greenbaum and Scott Rosenbaum at Club LeConte. This was Christy's first Jewish wedding and she was so excited to have the opportunity. She and Corey did a wonderful job and captured some beautiful moments. Shaw-Westerling Wedding, January 12

My first wedding in 2008 and what a great wedding to start the year! Melissa and and Rob actually booked with me almost a year earlier shortly after they were engaged. Their ceremony was held at the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan which was nestled in the woods off of Cedar Bluff. The reception followed at the Gettysvue country club. Melissa flattered me by telling me she had seen every album on my website and couldn't wait to see how we would capture the story of her wedding.
